A clinic where you can truly be yourself.
At Meaningful Medicine Clinic, every patient receives care that is consent-based, trauma-informed, and uses non-assumptive language about bodies and gender. We treat the whole person — with clinical depth, respect, and without judgment.

⎯ CONDITIONS WE ADDRESS
Medicine that listens first
We believe great care begins with respect — for your history, your body, and your goals. Every treatment plan is built around you as an individual.
Consent-Based & Trauma-Aware
Every treatment starts with a discussion about what feels comfortable. We use non-judgmental language and never ask you to explain your identity to provide quality care.
East Asian + Western Medicine Together
Our clinic integrates both traditions — reviewing labs, collaborating with your prescribing physicians, and offering herbal and acupuncture treatments that complement your current care.
Individualized Treatment Plans
No two patients receive identical care. Every formula, protocol, and recommendation is customized to your unique pattern, symptoms, and goals.
Collaborative Care Network
We collaborate with your primary care physician, endocrinologist, OB/GYN, or mental health provider — communicating as part of your broader care team when appropriate.
"Our clinic is trained in trauma-aware and inclusive care. If you've felt unseen or uncomfortable in medical settings, we want to change that experience for you. We care for the whole person."

⎯ Common Questions
What patients ask before starting
-
Yes — and we want to be clear about what that means. All care is consent-based, with explicit check-ins before and during treatment. We use respectful, non-assumptive language about bodies and gender throughout your intake and visits. You will never be asked to justify your identity. If you have requests regarding language or touch, we honor them without question.
-
Yes. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can be valuable complements to gender-affirming HRT — supporting mood stability, sleep, energy, libido, and managing side effects as your body adjusts. We can also review your labs and coordinate with your prescribing physician to ensure our treatments work with your existing protocol, not against it.
-
Absolutely. We are ABORM-trained in reproductive acupuncture and welcome individuals and families of all structures. We support same-sex couples, single parents by choice, trans and non-binary patients, and anyone navigating natural conception, IVF, IUI, or cycle regulation. We also collaborate closely with your fertility specialist, OB/GYN, or midwife as an integrated part of your care team.
-
Only include information that is clinically relevant to your care — and we will ask in a clear, respectful way. You will never be expected to explain yourself or teach your provider. We aim to use inclusive language in our intake forms as much as possible, and you can share as much or as little as feels right for you.
-
We are a self-pay practice. After every visit, we provide a detailed superbill with CPT codes that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept FSA and HSA funds — acupuncture is a qualified medical expense for both.
-
Most patients feel very relaxed during and after treatment — many even fall asleep on the table. Occasionally, patients experience an emotional release during a session, which is completely normal and part of the healing process. We create a safe, calming environment, and we're trained to support whatever comes up during treatment.
-
Herbal formulas are prescribed and billed individually, as each one is custom-compounded for your specific pattern. Most formulas cost between $0.50 and $0.75 per gram. If your formula includes any specialty herbs, they are $1.00 per gram, and we will let you know this up front. At a typical dose of about 63 grams per week, most patients pay approximately $32–$65 per week. Herbs are always optional.
