Everything starts with
one conversation.

Your first visit is a 90-minute intake. We will listen carefully, review your history, and build a treatment strategy specific to you. From there, you decide together what comes next — a series, individual visits, or simply time to think. No pressure, ever.

✔︎ No commitment required ✔︎ FSA & HSA accepted ✔︎ Superbill after every visit
✔︎ Individual visits are always available

⎯ HOW IT WORKS

No commitment until you're ready.

01

Start with your first visit

Book a 90-minute new patient visit. We will take a full health history, understand your goals, and begin forming a treatment strategy. This visit stands on its own — no series required upfront.

02

Choose your path — or don't

After your intake, we will recommend a treatment direction. You can enroll in a series, continue visit by visit, or take some time to decide. There's no pressure and no right answer — just what works for you.

03

Consistent follow-up treatments

Each 60-minute follow-up builds on the last. Most patients start noticing changes between sessions 2–4. The full series allows for real, lasting results.

⎯ YOUR FIRST VISIT

The 90-minute new patient visit.

This is where care begins. A thorough intake covering your full health history, current concerns, lifestyle, and goals. We use this time to assess your pattern, answer your questions, and build a treatment plan — together with you. Series options come after, once there's a clear picture.

💳

We are a self-pay practice. After each visit, we provide a detailed superbill with CPT codes that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. FSA and HSA funds are accepted for all acupuncture services.

Comprehensive Intake
Your first visit is 90 minutes. We review your full reproductive history — cycle patterns, labs, prior treatments, fertility goals — along with your broader health picture. Nothing is rushed.

Individualized Treatment Plan
We design a course of care specific to your cycle phase, hormonal presentation, and clinical goals. If you're working with a fertility specialist, we coordinate with their protocol.

Consistent Weekly Sessions
Most fertility patients benefit from weekly acupuncture — typically 7 follow-up sessions after your intake. Each treatment builds on the last, adapting as your body responds.

Track, Adjust, Collaborate
We monitor functional outcomes each visit — cycle symptoms, BBT, mood, energy, labs — and adjust treatment accordingly. We coordinate with your OB/GYN or RE as needed.

Your treatment may include

  • Acupuncture — cycle-phase-specific point protocols informed by ABORM training, IMFCP and traditional East Asian medicine

  • Herbal medicine — individualized formulas targeting your specific hormonal pattern (billed separately)

  • Myofascial therapy — addressing pelvic tension, abdominal adhesions, and structural patterns affecting reproductive function

  • Lab review & ordering — when clinically indicated, we review existing labs or recommend targeted bloodwork to inform your treatment plan and track progress

  • Supplement & nutrition guidance — evidence-informed recommendations for folate, CoQ10, vitamin D, and other nutrients relevant to fertility (billed separately)

  • Lifestyle protocol — sleep, stress reduction, exercise, and environmental factor recommendations individualized to your situation

Herbal medicine, labs, and vitamin supplements are billed separately from visit fees — because each is individualized to your specific needs.

⎯ TREATMENT SERIES

If you decide to continue, here is whats available

After your first visit, we will recommend a direction based on what was found. These series are offered as a way to commit to a full course of care at a modest savings — but only when it makes sense for you.

Dr. Bustillo is exceptional and is so talented, I’m so grateful he’s shared his gifts and expertise with me through Baylor Scott & White’s integrated medicine division over the past 5+ years. There are few people in the world like Dr. Bustillo who are knowledgeable and compassionate to such an extraordinary degree - thank you for your years of service in Austin!

My experience with Dr. Bustillo was exceptional. Not only is he highly skilled in his field, but he also shows a genuine care and compassion for his patients. He is truly an outstanding person to have on your healthcare team, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for acupuncture. I am incredibly grateful to have been his patient and wish him all the best in his move to Oregon.

Anyone who finds themselves lucky enough to call Dr. Bustillo their doctor knows that he is the absolute best at what he does in so many ways! I came to him first for shoulder pain, and then for help with fertility needs. He is attentive, caring, kind and always made me feel like I was in the best hands for the care I needed at the moment. He is a gem of a person - as both an acupuncturist and a human being.

I came to Dr. Bustillo after experiencing pain in my lower back for years. After one session I was able to stand straight. After six sessions I was able to travel out of the country walk for miles and never experienced any problems. Later in the year I was told I needed to have surgery for a torn rotator cuff. I went to see Dr. Bustillo again and have not need to have surgery. I would recommend him without hesitation as one of the finest human beings I have ever met as well as a skilled and talented doctor in the field of acupuncture and wellness. He is leaving the Austin Area and if necessary I will travel to wherever he is. He is just that good.

⎯ COMMON QUESTIONS

What patients ask before starting

  • We typically recommend 8 sessions for a fertility-focused course of care — one intake visit followed by 7 weekly treatments. This allows enough time to work through at least one full cycle and adjust treatment as your body responds. Some patients continue beyond the initial series depending on their goals and response.

  • Yes — and it's one of the most common reasons patients seek us out. We are ABORM-trained, including protocol-specific support for stimulation phases, pre- and post-transfer, and luteal-phase care. We coordinate our timing with your RE's protocol so everything works together.

  • We are a self-pay practice. After every visit, we provide a detailed superbill with CPT codes that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept FSA and HSA funds — acupuncture is a qualified medical expense for both.

  • Herbal formulas are prescribed individually and billed separately — because every formula is custom-compounded for your pattern. Most formulas cost between $0.50 and $0.75 per gram. At a typical dose of about 63 grams per week, most patients pay approximately $32–$65 per week. Herbs are always optional.

  • Yes. All care at Meaningful Medicine Clinic is consent-based, trauma-aware, and uses non-assumptive language about bodies and gender. We believe reproductive health care should be safe and respectful for every patient, regardless of identity or experience.

  • No — packages are optional. You can always book individual visits instead. The Fertility Support Series simply provides a structured plan at a modest savings ($750 for 8 visits vs. $800 individually). Many patients find it easier to commit to the full course upfront rather than deciding each time.

You don't have to navigate this alone.
